The Ice Warriors are a reptilian humanoid race from the planet Mars. They originally appeared in the 1967 story ‘The Ice Warriors’. In the 30th century the Ice Warriors tried to invade the Earth by changing the planet’s atmosphere to be more suitable for Martian life, but the plan failed. Later nearer the 40th century they became a peaceful race and joined a Galactic Federation which included Earth, Mars and a number of other planets.

The Ice Warriors were from the planet Mars. No Doctor Who episode has shown their civilisation, society or how they lived on the planet. In the episode ‘The Waters of Mars’ they were referenced as possibly freezing a water based virus that the humans came accross.
They tell legends of Mars long ago. A fine and noble race built an empire out of snow. The Ice Warriors.
Perhaps they found something down there. Used their might and their wisdom to freeze it.
The Ice Warriors had advanced space travel as early as 3000 BC. A full Ice Warrior spaceship was shown in ‘Cold War’.
When Mars turned cold the Ice Warriors had to adapt, they’re bio-mechanoid cyborgs, they built themselves survival armour so they could exist in the freezing cold of their home world. It is the greatest dishonour for an Ice Warrior to leave it’s armour.
Buried deep in the ice, scientists at Britannicus Base have discovered an ancient warrior. But this is no simple archaeological find. What they have found is the commander of a spaceship that crashed into the glacier thousands of years ago. Thawed from the ice, and knowing their home planet Mars is now a dead world, the Ice Warriors decide to make Earth their own…
The TARDIS arrives on Earth in the 21st Century, human society is now reliant on T-Mat – a matter transmitting device that beams people and freight instantly to destinations all around the globe, but it’s malfunctioning and the travellers agree to investigate.
The Doctor and Jo make a test flight in the TARDIS and arrive on the planet Peladon. Seeking shelter, they enter the citadel of the soon-to-be-crowned King Peladon, where the Doctor is mistaken for a human dignitary summoned to act as Chairman of a committee assessing an application by the planet to join the Galactic Federation.
The TARDIS returns to Peladon some fifty years after the Doctor’s last visit. The planet is now ruled by Queen Thalira – daughter of the late King Peladon – with advice from Chancellor Ortron. The Doctor and Sarah are arrested by Ortron for trespassing on sacred ground but their names are cleared by Alpha Centauri, now Galactic Federation ambassador to Peladon
The Doctor and Clara land on a damaged Russian submarine in 1983 as it spirals out of control into the ocean depths.
To make matters worse, an alien creature is loose on board, having escaped from a block of Arctic ice – and with tempers flaring and a cargo of nuclear weapons on board, it’s not just the crew but the whole of humanity at stake.
