The Ice Warriors

Ice Warrior - Cold War

A Brief History of the Ice Warriors

The Ice Warriors are a reptilian humanoid race from the planet Mars. They originally appeared in the 1967 story ‘The Ice Warriors’. In the 30th century the Ice Warriors tried to invade the Earth by changing the planet’s atmosphere to be more suitable for Martian life, but the plan failed. Later nearer the 40th century they became a peaceful race and joined a Galactic Federation which included Earth, Mars and a number of other planets.

The Waters of Mars - Ice Warriors

The Waters of Mars

The Ice Warriors were from the planet Mars. No Doctor Who episode has shown their civilisation, society or how they lived on the planet. In the episode ‘The Waters of Mars’ they were referenced as possibly freezing a water based virus that the humans came accross.

Waters of Mars
They tell legends of Mars long ago. A fine and noble race built an empire out of snow. The Ice Warriors. Perhaps they found something down there. Used their might and their wisdom to freeze it. The Doctor

Spaceships

The Ice Warriors had advanced space travel as early as 3000 BC. A full Ice Warrior spaceship was shown in ‘Cold War’.

Ice Warrior Cyborgs

Ice Warrior without armour

Armour

When Mars turned cold the Ice Warriors had to adapt, they’re bio-mechanoid cyborgs, they built themselves survival armour so they could exist in the freezing cold of their home world. It is the greatest dishonour for an Ice Warrior to leave it’s armour.
