The “Retro” Nissan Figaro, first introduced to the public in 1989 was built by a Nissan special projects group. Only four colours were available, Topaz mist, Emerald green ( Sarah Janes Colour ) Pale aqua and Lapis Grey although there have been many other custom repaints.

Only 8,000 were originally planned but a futher 12,000 were added to production numbers to meet the demand.
car image Although he does not own one, in a slight Sarah Jane connection Andrew Marr, a BBC journalist and political commentator, drives one in the opening credits of his TV show, He appeared as himsef in The Doctor who episode Aliens of london featuring the slitheen.
