Filming begins on Doctor Who Series 9

Filming has begun in Cardiff for series 9 of Doctor Who and includes a star-studded guest cast. The new series will be back on BBC One in autumn 2015.

The episodes currently being filmed are written by Toby Whithouse (The Game, Being Human), produced by Derek Ritchie and directed by Daniel O’Hara (Silent Witness 2015, The Game, Being Human).

Steven Moffat, lead writer and executive producer, says: “An amazing guest cast for a brilliantly creepy two-parter by Toby Whithouse. Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are back in Cardiff, back in the box, and back in action - for one of our scariest adventures yet!”

BBC releases The Doctor and the Dalek coding game for tablets

The BBC today launched The Doctor and the Dalek for tablets and released four new levels across all platforms. The game is available freely online now and later today from Google Play, Apple and Amazon app stores.

Voiced by Peter Capaldi, The Doctor and the Dalek follows the newly regenerated Twelfth Doctor as he is thrown into a dangerous quest with the most devious of his enemies in a stand-alone story from Doctor Who and Wizards vs Aliens TV writer, Phil Ford. The game forms part of the BBC’s Make it Digital initiative - which aims to inspire a new generation to get creative with coding, digital technology and programming - and introduces players to fundamental coding principles as they help the Doctor on his latest adventure.
