The Doctor Who Site is a fan site based in Gloucestershire UK.
This site was originally set up on the 27th September 2006 – just after Doctor Who series 2 had aired and before Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

How The Doctor Who Site is built
Wordpress
The Doctor Who Site is using a CMS ( Content Management System ) created by wordpress, wordpress is free, constantly updated and easy to install and use.

bbPress Forum
The Doctor Who Site uses a forum system created by bbPress, bbPress is made by the same people who designed Wordpress so again it is easy to install and use.

jQuery
We use a javascript library known as jQuery, this allows us to add effects and the draggable homepage panels.

Moveable Banner
To add more interactivity to our homepage we’ve used jParallax a jQuery plugin for a movable banner.

Drag and Drop
We’ve made our homepage fully customizable so you can set it up the way you want using drag and drop boxes similar to iGoogle and the BBC website.

Tabs
A lot of our pages use jQuery Tabs, this allows us to put a lot more information on a single page without it being cluttered.

For the Carousel’s on the website we’ve used two different versions depending on what effects we’ve wanted.
