Season Twenty One begins.

Return to Totter's Lane.

Doctor Who returns to Saturdays for Season Twenty Two. The format changes to 45 minute episodes.

Attack of the Cybermen marked the return of the Cyber Controller and Telos. The Cybermen planned to travel back in time and destroy the Earth.

The Doctor tries to fix the chameleon circuit.

The chameleon circuit fix doesn't quite work.

Lytton returns having previously worked for the Daleks.

Attack of the Cybermen once again got Doctor Who into trouble for being too violent for children.

The Doctor arrives on Varos searching for a rare ore called zeiton 7.

Another renegade Time Lord known as the Rani is removing chemicals from humans that enable sleep. The Master plans to use people of the Industrial Revolution to speed up Earth's development for his own gain.

The Time Lords send the Doctor and Jamie on a mission to stop people on Space Station Chimera experimenting with time travel.

The Sontarans are looking to discover the secret of time travel.

With the new 45 minute episode format, The Two Doctors was the only story of Season Twenty Two to have 3 episodes.

The wealthy came to Necros to have their newly-deceased bodies cryogenically frozen until medical science can cure whatever killed them. Davros used the frozen raw material for a food export and also to create a whole army of new Daleks.

Jobel was the chief embalmer of Tranquil Repose on Necros.

Newspapers run with the story that the BBC are trying to cancel Doctor Who.

Doctor Who's production was moved back a financial year giving it an 18-month hiatus between seasons 22 and 23.

Season Twenty Three begins.

The Inquisitor.

Doctor Who eventually returned for a 14 episode story titled 'The Trial of a Time Lord'. The timing for each episode was reduced to 25 minutes.

The story opens with an impressive CGI sequence of the TARDIS.

The Valeyard acted as the prosecutor in the trial.

Drathro was an L3 maintenance robot.

Katryca was a human leader from the planet Ravalox.

The Valeyard calls for a past event to be shown. This is Peri's final adventure with the Doctor.

Doctor Who lost a lot of viewers between seasons 22 and 23.

The TARDIS lands on the planet Thoros Beta.

Scientists are experimenting with brain transplant.

King Yrcanos from Krontep. He later fell in love with Peri.

Kiv's consciousness gets transferred directly into the body of Peri.

The Time Lords made it so Yrcanos killed Kiv who was in Peri's body.

It is from this point that the Doctor is put on trial.

The Doctor appears shocked from the footage shown and claims that he was not responsible for most of the events.

Bonnie Langford is cast as Mel.

The Doctor gives evidence for the defence. He chooses an adventure from his own future which takes place on the space liner Hyperion III.

2986

The crew of the space liner.

The Vervoids were a race of hostile alien plants, also slaves to humans. They got awakened early and attempted to kill all humans on the space liner.

The Doctor speeds up the Vervoids ageing process.

Article seven permits no exceptions. The Doctor has destroyed a complete species. The charge must now be genocide.
The Valeyard

The Keeper of the Matrix.

Mel and Sabalom Glitz are sent to help the Doctor by the Master.

The Master reveals that he accessed the Matrix by using a duplicate key. He also states that the Valeyard is a version of the Doctor's darker side from the future.

In all my travelling throughout the universe I have battled against evil, against power mad conspirators. I should have stayed here. The oldest civilisation: decadent, degenerate, and rotten to the core. Power mad conspirators, Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen - they're still in the nursery compared to us. Ten million years of absolute power. That's what it takes to be really corrupt.
