Doctor Who Lists and Facts

Doctor Who Series 8

Doctor Who will return in 2014

Doctor Who will return later this year for series 8 with Peter Capaldi as the Doctor.

A New Regeneration Cycle

In the anniversary year it was revealed that Matt Smith was the 13th and final incarnation.

John Hurt was introduced as the War Doctor, the forgotten 9th incarnation. Bumping up the numbers David Tennant took the 11th and 12th incarnations having regenerated in The Stolen Earth/Journeys End. This made Matt Smith the 13th incarnation.

The Doctor was granted a new regeneration cycle from the Time Lords in The Time of the Doctor allowing the Doctor to regenerate again.

Matt Smith
Doctor Who has been the most brilliant experience for me as an actor and a bloke, and that largely is down to the cast, crew and fans of the show. I’m incredibly grateful to all the cast and crew who work tirelessly every day, to realise all the elements of the show and deliver Doctor Who to the audience. Many of them have become good friends and I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved over the last four years.
